About Win Sein Taw Ya

The reclining Buddha was established by the Buddhist monk Win Sein Taw Ya on February 2, 1992. After 15 years of construction, it is still incomplete. In 2012, despite poor concrete construction, it was begun on a second.

The reason behind the construction remains unknown and these are questions that remains unanswered because Win Sein Taw Ya unexpectly passed away in 2015 at the age of 95.

Largest Outdoor Reclining Buddha Statues in SEA

Win Sein Taw Ya, SEA’s largest outdoor reclining Buddha status, is 180 meters long and 30 meters high. It has a magnificent and unique site, although it is not in the lists of the most well-known pagoda in Myanmar.

What insides the pagoda

The interior is made up of many interconnected chambers and halls filled with Buddhist paintings, sculptures, and dioramas illustrating scenes from the Buddha’s life, teachings, and Buddhist cosmology
